The Single Life - Marrying Well

For the last two months we've journeyed through a series of interviews on "The Single Life", looking at how to be a contented single, what to do with unrequited love, sexual purity, single parenting and more. We wrap up this week with something for singles who would like to not be single forever - a chat about Marrying Well.

Steve and Candice Watters have worked for many years with Focus on the Family on relationships and family issues; Candice wrote the famously titled book Get Married: What Women Can Do To Help It Happen; And together they edited the "Guys and Girls Guides to Marrying Well".

Free downloads of these booklets are at www.boundless.org.

A New View of Celibacy

What do you think of when you hear the word 'celibacy'? To many, it probably sounds like an old-fashioned, painful discipline, relegated to monks and nuns in boring black robes...
Well that image needs to change, according to Christine Colon. She's the author of a book called 'Singled Out - Why Celibacy Must Be Reinvented in Today's Church' - and she believes that the whole discussion on the single life for adult Christians, could do with a makeover. She says singleness isn't a sad waiting season to be endured, but a valid way of living in itself.
Christine is an associate professor of English in her early 40s, and has never married; We spoke with her this week as part of our ongoing series on Singleness.

What are your experiences and thoughts on the topic of celibacy?

Does your experience of church encourage a positive experience of celibacy and singleness?

Do you feel that the search for marriage as an ultimate goal is over-emphasised?

If you are a celibate single, seeking to live according to the Bible, what strategies have you found to live that life successfully?

Tell us your thoughts.

Single Again

Recently we began a series of interviews on the topic of Singleness - looking at the challenges and the joys of the single life, and how to do that season well.  This week, our topic is "Single Again". Anne Hollonds, psychologist and CEO of Relationships Australia, spoke with us on how to navigate being alone, after losing a partner to separation or divorce, or even death.

I'd love to hear your stories on becoming Single Again.

If you lost a partner after a long season of marriage, how did you cope? How did you respond to the challenges?
